What are the types of breast lift techniques?

Periareolar lift (crescent lift)

This is the smallest lift elevating the nipple and areola complex the shortest vertical distance. An incision is made on the superior areola margin encompassing a section of superior breast skin and the surgical defect is sutured back together resulting in elevation of the nipple and areola complex and the scar is located on the superior half of the areola.

Concentric (doughnut) breast lift
This lift is for women whose breasts are smaller and not as severely sagging and when a crescent lift will not result in enough elevation.  A doughnut-shaped piece of both areola and breast skin is removed from around the nipple areola complex such that they can be shifted upwards, and then the remaining skin is sutured around them in their new location. This results in a scar completely around the areola complex.

Lolly pop lift
A variation of the concentric breast lift where another additional incision running downward from the areola edge towards the breast crease is made. This removes more skin on the bottom half of the breast in addition to elevating the nipple areola complex. A strip of skin can be removed and the edges sutured together.  With this type of lift, more firming of the breast is achieved.

Anchor-shaped breast lift
This technique is used for women with larger and more sagging breasts with a significant excess of breast skin. This is the most frequent technique used for breast lifts.  In addition to the periareola and vertical incisions, another incision is placed in the breast fold.  The final shape of all the incisions together looks like an anchor.
