A new type of silicone implants has been re-approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration since November 2007.
New implants are no longer made of the type of liquid silicone that the old implants used. If you cut the new, improved implants in half or if they get punctured, the contents remain semi-solid and gelatinous. The material cannot explode or leak into your body.
