Having kids can be one of the most rewarding experiences in any woman’s life. It can also be hard on your body. You may find that you have sagging breasts, excess skin on your abdomen and other undesired effects from pregnancy. Fortunately, this is where a “mommy makeover” can come in handy.
Basically, this is a combination of cosmetic surgery procedures that are performed with the goal of returning you, as closely as possible, to the body you had before you gave birth.
What Are the Procedures Included in a Mommy Makeover?
This will depend on how much work you need to have done to restore you to your former shape. It will typically include some liposuction and a tummy tuck and may require a breast lift and perhaps breast augmentation as well.
The tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, will tighten your abdominal area by removing excess skin and fat and tightening the muscles. A breast lift can return sagging breasts to the position they were in previously. While getting the breast lift anyway, you may also decide to get a breast augmentation, so you can possibly come out of your mommy makeover looking even better than you did before your pregnancy!
How to Get Started
At the Kole Plastic Surgery Center in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, we know that prospective patients for the mommy makeover have many questions. This is why your first step is to contact our office to get a consultation with board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Edward S. Kole. Our State-of-the-art, new PA Department of Health licensed Ambulatory Surgical center specializes in cosmetic surgery only, and Dr. Kole has two decades of experience in this field.
After you set up your consultation with us, we’ll answer any questions you may have as well as assess exactly what mix of procedures you will need to get you to your end goal. You’ll get all the information you need regarding preparation for your procedure. Also, we recommend you only undergo a mommy makeover if you are sure your child-rearing days are behind you.
Getting the Mommy Makeover
As a board-certified plastic surgeon, my patients are always my top priority. An informed patient makes better decisions, so I tell you everything you need to know about the procedures and your recovery. Because these are surgical procedures, you will be under general anesthesia, so you’ll need someone who can drive you home from our facility and stay with you that night.
Depending on the combination of procedures you need, it will take a few hours to undergo. Your recovery will span one to four weeks. You should be able to return to work in just under two weeks, but you will have to take it easy for a while as far as strenuous tasks. The incision areas will heal over time, and I will also utilize my cosmetic surgery experience to make incisions in locations that minimize the visibility of any scarring.
Please give the Kole Plastic Surgery Center a call at 215-315-7655 to schedule your free consultation. After the procedures and the recovery period, you will love looking at yourself in the mirror again, and you’ll consider it the best money you ever spent!
