Is there a clear winner when it comes to breast implants? The most important thing for people choosing the type of breast implant for their breast augmentation is understanding the unique benefits each has to offer. The goal is to find the implant type that will provide you with your ideal results.

What Are My Options?

There are two types of implants that you can choose from: silicone implants and saline implants. When deciding which implant is right for you, it is a good idea to know what kind of look you are trying to attain through surgery.

Saline Implants – These implants are made from a silicone shell filled with a sterile salt water solution (saline). The silicone shell can actually be inserted empty and then filled to the desired volume with saline during surgery, which means that a smaller incision can be used to insert it. Saline implants are the most affordable implant type. While saline implants can provide natural-looking results, some say that saline implants don’t feel as natural as silicone implants especially when significantly increasing your breast size.

Silicone Implants – These implants are made from a silicone shell filled with a silicone gel. The silicone gel is much more viscous than saline and more accurately mimics the texture of real breast tissue, which is why they are credited with having a more natural look and feel. Silicone implants are pre-filled, so a slightly larger incision is required when inserting them. For an even more natural look, a woman can choose “highly cohesive” or “gummy bear implants”

These silicone implants are filled with a cohesive silicone gel that is better at maintaining its form than traditional silicone implants. Because of the consistency of the cohesive silicone gel, gummy bear implants look natural, feel more like real breasts, and move more naturally.
