What Is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation is a type of plastic surgery procedure that involves reshaping, resizing, or restructuring a woman’s breasts. Generally, this type of procedure is performed when the patient is unsatisfied with the size, shape, or volume of her breasts and wants to regain or achieve a more feminine and flattering figure. In some instances, the patient recently gave birth and wants to restore her breasts to their previous form and appearance. Other times, the procedure is sought by women who have lost a considerable amount of weight and want larger breasts.
How Is Breast Augmentation Performed?
First, the patient will be given general anesthesia. Dr. Kole will then make an incision under the breast, around the areola, or along the armpit and insert implants either under or over the muscles in the breast. Implants are generally made either from silicone or saline and are chosen by the patient after an initial consultation. Dr. Kole will ensure there is minimal scarring that will not be visible due to the location in which he makes the incisions. In addition, he uses special equipment for the procedure to ensure the incision he makes is extremely minute.
